To inaugurate this new path, Giacomo Giannella, Artistic Director and co-founder of #Streamcolors, has written an open letter to tell you how it all began and evolved. 1 - THE BEGINNING In 2004, almost 20 years ago, I fulfilled my childhood dream: I worked in the #gameindustry as art director. It was a new and unusual job for that time in Italy. I loved it because it made me feel part of a complex and ever-evolving process, but, after a few years, I felt the need to experiment more with the potential of computer graphics to create a #newvisual language. 2 – STREAMCOLORS…

I called my #generativeartsystem #STREAMCOLORS, because of its intrinsic ability to modify a starting image into a #never-ending flow of new #patterns.

Streamcolors generative art system is based on 4 #pillars:

👉 1. #SHAPE: a #visual alphabet composed of a series of 3d digital sculptures that I have called #Giants for their infinite scale inside the virtual scene;

👉 2. #COLORS: starting #images and videos used as textures on Giants;

👉 3. #INTERACTION: sliders and controllers that allow to #remix and reshape images in new patterns;

👉 4. THE #UNEXPECTED: a series of rules and random processes able to guarantee a generative and procedural result, only partially controlled, to leave space to something #amaze.

3 – THE TEAM:

At the beginning i’ve used it to surprise myself, relax and refresh my mind. In 2012 I’ve founded, together with my #wife Giuliana🥰, the #digitalart studio #Streamcolorsto create innovative projects for brands and #cultural institutions.

In 2016 Andrea😁 joined us and we made the big leap: we went from using our own software to @unrealengine @epicgames one of the most powerful tools for #videogame’s development. Our #creativity was free without technological limitations.

From that moment #Humans, #Arts and #Technologies became our interpretation keys that to design interactive and #psychedelic experiences.

Vogliamo ricordare #RaffaellaCarrà, donna straordinaria e regina indiscussa della #tv, pubblicando il ritratto che 4 anni fa abbiamo realizzato per la rubrica "Il mio eroe" sulla bellissima rivista Sette del Corriere della Sera a corredo dell'intervista in cui la Carrà raccontava di sua nonna Andreina, suo modello per la vita:

"Andreina, mia nonna materna, gestiva una gelateria nella piazza centrale di #Bellaria. Oltre a essere brava come commerciante, suonava il #violino, e tutte le notti mi addormentavo accanto a lei con indimenticabili colonne sonore: mi cantava i brani delle romanze più famose, e io prendevo sonno cullata dalla sua voce (...) È stata lei a farmi conoscere il mondo della danza classica a Bologna e a credere per prima nelle mie qualità artistiche"
